Seaways Group commence coastal movements from Vizag Port

Hyderabad, Mar 12 (UNI) Seaways Group, a leading shipping and logistics service provider in India, commenced Coastal Shipping on the East Coast from Visakhapatnam Port.

Seaways Group, has taken up the carriage of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant cargo on door-to-door basis through coastal shipping, thus providing an alternate to road and rail.

The first trial shippment of 1000 MT of steel long products were being shipped on the vessel MV ''Coastal Express-I'' scheduled to arrive Visakhapatnam tomorrow.

CEO of Seaways Group Capt. Vijay Gopal, said in a statement that with the growing economy and massive infrastructure development taking place across the country, there had been increased activity in movement of various goods across the country. The pressure was bound to build up sooner or later for opening doors for coastal shipping.

Though India has over 7000 km vast coast there was not much emphasis on carriage of goods by coastal shipping in lieu of road and rail. "The usage of coastal shipping will be advantageous to our country's economic growth", he said.

74 students fall ill after taking noon meal

Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, Mar 8 (UNI) As many as 74 students, including 47 girls of the Pachayat Union Middle School fell ill after consuming mid-day meals in their school at Mamanthur Village near here today. Police said the students were admitted to the Government Hospital at Kallakurichi and the Primary Health Centre at Chinna Salem where their condition was said to be satisfactory. UNI.....
