Rains, hailsotrm dip temp in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Mar 12 (UNI) Unseasonal rains in Rajasthan have dipped temperatures yet again, ushering in mild cold conditions.

Rainfall and hailstorm, which has been occurring over the last two days, is expected to stretch into this week.

Bikaner recorded the highest rainfall, mapping 13.5 mm today.

Sikar, Churu and Jhunjhunu witnessed hailstorm and heavy rain.

Intermittent rain and drizzle continued in the state capital from yesterday. The rainfall recorded was 12.8 mm. The sky was partly cloudy today with rains likely in the evening or night. The minimum temperature here was recorded at 14.8 degree Celsius.

According to weather department, the western disturbance has resulted in rain and hailstorms across the state.

Pilani recorded 11.8 mm rain, Churu 11.9, Jaisalmer 11, Dholpur 8, Bharatpur 7, Barmer 3.9, Ganganagar 4.7, Jodhpur 1.9 and Ajmer 1 mm.

Many other parts of the state witnessed drizzle.

Agricultural experts say the unseasonal rains and hailstorm have proved damaging for crops like wheat, gram and mustard.

According to met office, the temperature have dipped by two to three degree Celsius in many places.

Pilani remained the coldest in the state maping 12.8 degree Celsius. Ganganagar recorded 13.9, Udaipur 14.4, Dholpur 14, Bikaner 15.6, Ajmer and Churu 15.8, Bharatpur 15.7, Barmer 16.6, Jhalawar 18.6, Kota 18.9, Jodhpur 17.1 and Rawatbhata 22 degree Celsius.

The weather office predicts rains with thunder showers in northern and southern parts of the state over the next 24 hours.

Incoming and outgoing fligts cancelled in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 12 (UNI) All incoming and outgoing flights were today cancelled due to heavy snowfall in the Kashmir valley. An official of the Srinagar airport said only one flight from Jammu arrived at 1100 hours when there was slight improvement in the visibility. About a dozen flights are operating between Srinagar-Jammu and Delhi daily. However, due to snowfall and poor visibility all the flights have been cancelled. Hundreds of passengers had to return back from the airport after cancellation.....

Cong walkout in Chhattisgarh Assy over missing kids

Raipur, Mar 12 (UNI) Opposition Congress members today staged a walkout in the Chhattisgarh Assembly alleging the government was ''not serious'' over stopping child-trafficking from tribal areas. Mr Novil Kumar Verma (NCP), who raised the issue during Question Hour, pointed out several kids were missing from Sarguja and nearby districts. ''Many of them were taken to Delhi and were living in inhuman conditions,'' he added. Home Minister Ramvichar Netam pointed out 24 children were reported missing in Sarguja district between July.....

Solar traffic signals power Pink City

Jaipur, Mar 12 (UNI) The Pink City is undertaking a unique experiment by installing solar-powered traffic signals and blinkers at many crossings. More than 19 crossings and roads cuts in the city now boast of solar panels placed on signal posts in an effort to save on energy and cost. Traffic department sources said these solar panels have been set up in places where it is difficult to install electrically-controlled panels and where the accident probability is high. The.....
