Punjab govt transfers Mohali DC

Chandigarh, Mar 12 (UNI) After effecting the transfer of eight Deputy Commissioners (DC) yesterday, the Punjab government transfered yet another DC and six other civil officers.

According to official orders, Tejveer Singh, Mohali DC was transfered to the rural development department as Joint Commissioner.

Harjit Inder Singh Grewal will be the new DC of Mohali.

Sarvesh Kaushal, Principal Secretary of School Education has been shifted to the Social Security, Women and Children Development department for appointment as Member Secretary, State Women Commission. K B S Sidhu will take the place of Mr Kaushal.

Satish Chander will be the new Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayats, in addition to Secretary Planning and Special Economic Package. Kulbir Singh has been shifted as ADC (development), Nawanshahar and his place will be taken by Vinay Bublani.

Elderly person in Shimla returns Rs 4.05 lakh to SBI

Shimla, Mar 12 (UNI) In a rare show of honesty, an elderly person here today returned a sum of Rs 4,05 lakh to Chotta Shimla branch of State Bank of India (SBI) after its cashier had inadvertently handed him a sum of Rs 4.50 lakh instead of Rs 45,000. The bank's cashier had handed over nine bundles of Rs 500 each to Mr Sewa Singh, an elderly person and a resident of Strawberry Hills, instead of nine bundles of Rs 50.....

Digvijay Singh is irresponsible: Kailash Chawla

Bhopal, Mar 12 (UNI) Accusing former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh of being irresponsible, former minister and BJP MLA Kailash Chawla said the state is progressing at a fast pace as a result of welfare-oriented policies of the government.
