Punj to set up a 300 ktpa LDPE plant in Saudi

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) Punj Lloyd Ltd (PLL) today said it will build a new 300 kilo tonnes per annum low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant in Saudi Arabia for Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Company, an affiliate of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC).

The group's member company, Simon Carves Ltd, signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to build the plant.

The plant, due to start up in the first quarter of 2010, is to be built at Saudi Kayan's petrochemical complex at Al-Jubail Industrial City, KSA, and will incorporate technology from Basell GmbH.

Simon Carves Ltd is a petrochemical major, headquartered in Manchester, UK.

Tata Tea expects to clock Rs 1,000 cr revenue this fiscal

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) Tata Tea, the country's largest tea brand, is expecting to close the current fiscal with Rs 1,000-crore-revenue mark, clocking a near 13 per cent growth. ''Last year the company registered a 10-12 per cent rise in its revenue. This year we are expecting the figures to grow slightly upwards,'' Tata Tea Executive Director (Marketing) Sangeeta Talwar told reporters here today. According to a survey by AC Nielson, Tata Tea's share in the domestic branded tea.....

Fire claims one life in Sadar Bazaar shanties

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) One person died when a fire broke out in a shanty cluster near Sadar Bazaar in Old Delhi late last night. The blaze in the hutments on Qutub Road near Old Delhi Railway station started at about 0000 hrs, fire brigade said today. As many as 35 firetenders took about five and a half hours to put out the fire. More than 325 shanties and five adjoining shops were gutted in the flames. UNI.....

Moderate rains bring chill to Delhi air

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) The hot and sunny weather of the past week today gave way to a wet and chilly weather in the capital as moderate to heavy rains lashed Delhi since last night, plummeting the mercury by several degrees. The rainfall, coupled with cold Southwesterly winds, led to a sharp drop in maximum temperature in Delhi to 21.3 Degrees Celsius, nine degrees below normal.
