Passenger association demands stoppage of trains at Anand

Anand, Mar 12 (UNI) The Railway Passengers Sangarsh Samiti and former President of Anand city M G Gujarati today submitted a memorandum to Western Railway General Manager Jinran demanding that Ajmer Express and Okha-Puri Express be stopped at Anand Railway station.

They submitted their memorandum to Mr Jinran, who was here on inspection.

Their other demands included construction of a flyover connecting railway godown and Parikh Bhavan and extension of Ahmedabad-Godhra train to Dahod.

Anand, Mar 12 (UNI) A man accused of kidnapping a minor girl in 2002 was arrested by sleuths of the crime branch today, from Motipura area near Sarsa village here. The accused Chetan alias Vikram Thakor was arrested by the cops after they were tipped off about his arrival in Motipura area, police said. He has been handed over to Khambolej police. UNI.....

Miscreants loot ornaments worth Rs 50,000 from temple

Anand, Mar 12 (UNI) Miscreants looted Gold and Silver ornaments worth Rs 50,000 from Ranchodji temple in Ode village, here. Unidentified persons scaled a nearby tree to enter the temple last night and decamped with the jewellery, police said. The temple trustee Ramanbhai Devjibhai Patel has lodged a complaint at the Khambolej police station, police said. No arrests have been made so far, police added. UNI.....

Pirated CDs seized

Jamnagar, Mar 13 (UNI) The Jamnagar Police have arrested four persons and seized pirated CDs and DVDs worth Rs 94,400 during a raid late last evening. Police said during the raid, 6552 pirated CDS and DVDs were confiscated which were being illegally sold at roadside stalls. The arrested have been identified as Vijay Sombhai Pariya (20), Nitin Hasmukhbhai Chovatia (20), Salim Siddik Khalifa (30) and Chandan Laxmandas Bajaj (23). UNI.....

Educationist and 1st Dy. Mayor of RMC dead

Rajkot, Mar 13 (UNI) Vinodbhai Buch, an educationist and First Deputy Mayor of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, died here today following a brief illness. He was 72 and is survived by two sons and a daughter. He had served the RMC as Deputy Mayor during 1973 to 1975. His funeral procession would take place tomorrow morning from his residence, family sources said. UNI.....
