Opposition demands implementation of "sarna code' in J'khand

Ranchi, Mar 12 (UNI) Opposition BJP MLAs today staged a noisy dharna in the Jharkhand Assembly demanding implementation of the 'Sarna code' for benefit of the tribal people of the state.

Raising the issue during the question hour, Chandresh Oran (BJP) demanded to implement 'Sarna code' saying the 'Christian Adivasis' were getting dual benefits of minority as well of the scheduled tribes whereas the tribals following the Sarna religion were getting one benefit that is given to only scheduled tribes.

Mr Oraon said the government had deleted the religion column which classified the exact ratio of Sarna followers and the others.

Replying to this Chief Minister Madhu Koda said the matter was related with the census department which was being intimitated.

Dissatisfied over the government's answer, Mr Oraon along with four other party members sat on Dharna in the House. Later they were brought back to their seats after intervention of senior BJP member Raghubar Das and Speaker Alamgir Alam.

Taking part in the debate Ramchandra Chandravaishi(RJD) said that like Bihar, the Jharkhand believed to provide reservation facility to the backwards.

On this Mr Koda said the matter was under consideration with the Backward Commission.

Replying to C P Singh(BJP)' question raised over providing the caste certificates to people living in rented house and had no records in ''Khatian'' Mr Koda said theose people could get their caste certificates prepared after being recommende by the ward commissioner.

Earlier, Radhakrishna Kishore(JD-U) raised the issue of constructing new secretariate and Assembly in Ranchi.

Cow slaughter under the nose of police in Jharkhand: Opposition

Ranchi, Mar 12 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today said action will be taken against those violating the ban on cow slaughter. The government has taken the decision after heavy opposition from BJP and all other political parties in the state. New train from Ranchi to Ajmer

Ranchi, Mar 12 (UNI) A new 'Ranchi-Ajmer Garib Nawaz' train connecting Ajmer in Rajasthan to Ranchi in Jahrkhand will begin from March 15. The South Eastern railways, in a release here today, stated that the train would leave Ranchi at 2020 hrs on Thursday and reach Ajmer on Saturday at 0630 hrs via Muri, Varanasi, Kanpur, Tundla, Agra and Jaipur. Enhance NEC fund to reduce regional imbalance: Apang

Itanagar, Mar 12 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang has called for enhancing the NEC fund to reduce inter-state imbalance and disparities.
