One killed as train hits car in AP

Tirupati, Mar 12(UNI) A 30-year-old man was killed and a woman received minor injuries when the car in which they were travelling was hit by the Katpadu-Tirupati passenger train at an unmanned level crossing of Kotala in Chandragiri mandal about 50 km from here today.

Police said, the mishap occurred when the car proceeding to Iethepalli from Rangapet was crossing the unmanned level gate.

The victim identified as Hariprasad was killed on the spot.

The body was sent for post-mortem, police added.

Minister visits sick students

Hyderabad, Mar 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Health Minister K Rosaiah today visited the hospital at Nallakunata here in which hostellers of a women's college were admitted after they fell ill due to consuming contaminated water. Nearly 100 hostellers of the Koti Women's College in the city were taken ill yesterday after drinking contaminated water and some of them admitted to hospital with symptoms of nausea and vomiting. Budget for health sector reducing

Patna Mar 12 (UNI) The percentage of state health budget is reducing, with only 1.35 per cent of the total outlay being alloted for it in the current fiscal, sources in the centre for health and resource management(CHARM) claimed today. CHARM executive director Dr Shakeel said, ''In terms of making the financial outlays for the health sector, the present government appears to be reversing the trend started by the previous dispensation.'' Drop satellite towns, port develpt projects: Narayanaswamy

Puducherry, Mar 12 (UNI) AICC general secretary V Narayansamy, MP, today urged the territorial administration to drop the proposal to set up satellite towns here and shift the Port development project to a rural area. In a statement here, he said he had visited the proposed areas to set up satallite town and found that the places were owned by small farmers. Acquiring the fertile land would badly hit the farmers and farm labourers and therefore the government should drop.....
