MDIS, Loyola College ink pact on faculty, student exchange

Chennai, Mar 12 (UNI) The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), the island-city's oldest non-profit professional institute, today signed an MoU with the Loyola College here for a long-term collaboration in areas of faculty and student exchange programmes.

The MoU was signed by MDIS Secretary-General R Theyvendran and Loyola College Principal Albert Muthumalai at a simple function here.

Stating it was the first MoU the MDIS had signed with an Indian institute, Mr Theyvendran said the agreement would focus on development in areas of quality programmes, learning and sharing of teaching expertise, training and academic development, besides offering merit scholarship programmes for financially disadvantaged student candidates.

He said the MDIS had similar plans of associating with educational institutes across India in future.

Rev Muthumalai said the Loyola College was proud to associate with the MDIS as it was focussed on providing highest quality of education at an affordable cost.

The MoU would become effective for the new batch of students starting with academic year 2007-08, he said.

Japanese Encephalitis vaccination in Haryana

Chandigarh, Mar 13 (UNI) A Japanese Encephalitis (JE) vaccination campaign will be launched by Haryana Health Department to safeguard children between the age group of one to 15 years from this vector borne disease. Puducherry, Mar 13 (UNI) Puducherry Health Minister E Valsaraj today called up on the two municipalities here to evolve a scheme to tackle the mosquito menace, for which the health department would extend all support. Inaugurating a sensitising workshop for elected members of local bodies of Ozhukarai and Puducherry municipalities here, organised by the Puducherry State Health Mission, Mr Valsaraj claimed that Puducherry stood first in the health sector in the country.
