Kerala HC issues contempt notice to PSC secretary

Kochi, Mar 12 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today issued notice to Kerala Public Service Commission Secretary Shivaja Das and directed her to appear before the court on March 15 and show cause why contempt action should not be taken against her.

Justice A K Basheer gave the order while considering a contempt petition filed by M B Preetha of Ernakulam, who had earlier filed a writ petition challenging the shortlist published by the KPSC to the post of Law College lecturers.

In that writ petition, the court had issued an interim order, directing the KPSC to call the petitioner for interview for the said post.

However, this was not done by the KPSC, which published the final rank list excluding the petitioner's name, against which the petitioner filed the contempt plea.

Police verifying pending case against horse trader

Hyderabad, Mar 12 (UNI) The Hyderabad police have been verifying the records of pending criminal cases registered against horse trader Hasan Ali after income tax sleuths detected unaccounted wealth worth Rs 35,000 crores held by him. Talking to mediapersons here today, City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh said all six cases were booked against him from 1992. Allot 50 per cent of natural gas to AP: Farmers Association

Vijayawada, Feb 25 (UNI) Federation of Farmers Associations Krishna District President Y Hanumantha Rao today said the 50 per cent of available natural gas in Krishna-Godavari basin should be alloted to the state. Participating in a seminar "Utilisation of Natural Gas for the Development of Andhra Pradesh" organised by Federation of Farmers Association here, he said 50 per cent of gas was enough to generate power in the state. Pirated CDs seized from a cable operator

Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 12 (UNI) Police today raided the cable operator Surichetti Vijay's residence at Eajendranagar in the town and seized 1127 blue-films, CDs and 742 pirated cinema CDs. According to Sub Divisional Police Officer P H D Ramakrishna, Vijay was getting the CDs from Antony at Paris in Chennai. Mr Ramakrishna said the accused would be produced before the court. In another incident three college students were arrested at Lalacheruvu Centre and five motor cycles were recovered from.....
