Junior, PG doctors stage protest

Tirupati, Mar 12 (UNI) Demanding the release of their colleague, arrested last week on charges of molesting a minor girl patient, the junior and Post-Graduate doctors of RUIA Government Hospital today staged a novel protest by posing themselves as patients in front of the hospital here.

Hospital sources said about 200 juniors and PG doctors after enrolling their names in the Out Patient register, shouted slogans against the illegal arrest of their colleague Radiologist Doctor Kondala Rao and demanded that the girl's family withdraw the complaint lodged with the police.

The girl's family, in a complaint to the police last week, submitted that the Radiologist had molested the 13-year-old girl, while carrying out the CT scan.

Based on their complaint, the police had arrested the Radiologist.

Isolated rain in parts of AP

Hyderabad, Mar 12 (UNI) Isolated rain occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the last 24 hours even as dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema. The chief amounts of rainfall recorded were Parvathipuram 2 cm, Adilabad and Komarada one each, the Weather Office said here. Maximum temperatures were above normal at a few places over Rayalaseema and normal over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The maximum temperature of 40 degree C was recorded at Kadapa and lowest minimum temperature of 16.....

5-day Indo-US workshop on avian influenza concludes

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) A five-day Indo-US workshop on Avian Influenza Preparedness and Response concluded here today. The workshop was organised by the Central government in collaboration with the U S National Institute of Communicable Disease, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, US Department of Agriculture, WHO and UNICEF, an American Embassy release said.
