Government declare two-day holiday in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Government has declared closure of all educational institution in the Kashmir valley for two days from tomorrow following heavy snowfall.

This decision was taken at a meeting here this afternoon in the wake of heavy snowfall in the entire valley, including Srinagar, Kargil and Drass.

The schools will now reopen on March 15.

The Kashmir University has also postponed entrance examinations for different post graduate courses as majority roads to far flung and remote areas were closed due to heavy snowfall. New dates will be announced later.

The educational institutions reopened in the Kashmir valley and Kargil district on March Ist after three month winter vacation.

15 killed in UP due to lightning

Lucknow, Mar 12 (UNI) At least 15 people were killed across the state today when they were hit by lightning, police said here. A report from Ballia said Sumaru and Ramji Rajbhar were killed in village Sujayat Patsar after being struck by lightning. The two were returning home from their fields. Elderly person in Shimla returns Rs 4.05 lakh to SBI

Shimla, Mar 12 (UNI) In a rare show of honesty, an elderly person here today returned a sum of Rs 4,05 lakh to Chotta Shimla branch of State Bank of India (SBI) after its cashier had inadvertently handed him a sum of Rs 4.50 lakh instead of Rs 45,000. The bank's cashier had handed over nine bundles of Rs 500 each to Mr Sewa Singh, an elderly person and a resident of Strawberry Hills, instead of nine bundles of Rs 50.....
