Eicher Motors declare an interim dividend of 290 per cent

Mumbai, Mar 12 (UNI) Eicher Motors today declared an interim dividend of 290 per cent for the financial year 2006-2007.

This includes a one time special dividend of 250 per cent which will be distributed to shareholders on March 20, the company said in an official release issued here.

''The interim dividend we have declared is due to the profits we have earned from the sale of the tractor business coupled with a strong performance and cash position in the first eleven months of this financial year. We have recorded a growth of 19 per cent in sales volumes within our commercial vehicles domain and six per cent across our two-wheeler category. Besides, we have had growth of 27 per cent in the sales turnover of our automotive component,'' the Managing Director&CEO of Eicher Motors, Siddhartha Lal said.

Eicher Motors Limited is a significant player in the Indian automobile industry and is involved in the design, manufacture and marketing of commercial vehicles, motorcycles (Royal Enfield) and components as well as providing engineering solutions, the release added.

Mumbai, Mar 12 (UNI) Copper and brass cuttings declined on lack of fresh demand along with the London Metal Exchange, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today. In ferrous section, copper heavy and brass cuttings declined by Rs 300 and Rs 700 per quintal on lack of fresh demand. Nokia to double production to 50 million a year

Chennai, Mar 12 (UNI) Nokia, the global leader in mobile communications, today announced doubling of its handset production to 50 million units a year at its Sriperumbudur plant, near here, from June. Mr Jukka Lehtela, the outgoing Director of Nokia's India operations, told reporters that eight additional factories at its manufacturing plant would become operational by early next year. New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) Mahindra and Mahindra has made an open offer to purchase a further 20 per cent share in Punjab Tractors Ltd and its subsidiaries for 4.9 billion dollars.
