New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) To cater to a large number of NRIs and the Gujarati community, Jet Airways today announced the introduction of a new international flight between Ahmedabad and London with two frequencies per week from April 3.

This will be enhanced to three flights per week from May.

Ahmedabad will be the fourth city in India which will be linked with London Heathrow by Jet following receipt of regulatory approvals. At present, London is served with twice daily flights from Mumbai, once daily from Delhi and six times a week from Amritsar.

Jet's flight will operate from Ahmedabad on Tuesdays and Wednesdays while in the return direction, the flight from London Heathrow to Ahmedabad will be on Tuesdays and Sundays from April 3 to 30.

From May 1, an additional frequency has been added on this sector -- on every Saturday -- from Ahmedabad and on every Friday from London Heathrow.

As part of its inaugural offer, the airline has introduced a special economy class return air fare of Rs 28,000 exclusive of taxes.

Jet will operate the Ahmedabad-London-Ahmedabad flight with an Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The aircraft is configured for international operations with 30 seats in premiere class and 196 seats in economy class.

Jet currently operates a fleet of 61 aircraft with 48 classic and next generation Boeing 737-400/700/800/900 aircraft, three Airbus A340-300E aircraft, two Airbus A330-200 aircraft and eight modern ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft.

PUCL demands to allow screening of Parzania in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Feb 22 (UNI) People's Union For Civil Liberties Gujarat Unit secretary Gautam Thaker in a memorandum to Gujarat Governor Navalkishore Sharma, demanded allowing the screening of ''Parzania'' in the state. ''Moral policemen in Gujarat have called for the ban on the movie, following which theatre owners in the state are scared of screening the film,'' Mr Thaker said in the memorandum. About 200 anti-WTO protestors detained in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) About 200 people protesting against the WTO in Delhi were detained by police in South Delhi today.
