Copper, brass cuttings declines with LME

Mumbai, Mar 12 (UNI) Copper and brass cuttings declined on lack of fresh demand along with the London Metal Exchange, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In ferrous section, copper heavy and brass cuttings declined by Rs 300 and Rs 700 per quintal on lack of fresh demand.

In non-ferrous section, copper wire bars drifted lower by Rs 500 per quintal on sustained heavy selling pressure. But lead ingots rose by Rs 100 per quintal on lesser stock supply.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 31,500, copper utensils - Rs 29,500, brass utensils - Rs 23,500, brass cuttings - Rs 24,500 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,900.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 34,800, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,250, zinc slab Rs 18,200, lead ingots - Rs 8,400, tin slab - Rs 695 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 2,080 (per kg).

Chennai, Mar 12 (UNI) Nokia, the global leader in mobile communications, today announced doubling of its handset production to 50 million units a year at its Sriperumbudur plant, near here, from June. Mr Jukka Lehtela, the outgoing Director of Nokia's India operations, told reporters that eight additional factories at its manufacturing plant would become operational by early next year. He also announced that Mr Sachin Saxena would succeed him as Director, India Operations. The plant, which celebrated yesterday its first anniversary.....

Punjab to promote sale of fat-free skimmed milk

Mumbai, Mar 13 (UNI) The BSE Sensex today crossed 13,000 mark and touched 13,026 points in the mid-morning session, after resuming high at 12,924 points with a modest gain of 22 points from its last close of 12,902.63 points as buying continued for the index based pivotals, brokers said.
