Cong MLA boycotts MP Assy

Bhopal, Mar 12 (UNI) Congress MLA Arif Akil today boycotted proceedings in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly following rejection of his demand for an immediate discussion on communal disturbances in the state's commercial capital Indore.

Raising the matter during Zero Hour, the ex-minister said, ''Communal tension-related incidents are recurring there. I have submitted a notice for an adjournment motion.'' Advising the member to meet him separately, Speaker Ishwardas Rohani urged Mr Akil to calmly take his seat but the MLA remained adamant, finally announced that he was boycotting proceedings and left the House.

Workshop on prevention of HIV/AIDS from Mar 6

Hyderabad, Mar 4 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) in association with Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust, will organise a workshop on "Workplace Intervention for Prevention of HIV/AIDs" here on March six and seven. The two-day workshop would deliberate on operational plans to make the preventive policy more effective, its implementation in various large, medium and small enterprises and setting up of a monitoring and evaluation system, a release said here. Weather change in MP

Bhopal, Mar 12 (UNI) A Cloudy sky and isolated drizzles were witnessed in the Madhya Pradesh capital and the state's northern parts following a western disturbance over Rajasthan. ''Upper air cyclonic circulation formed over this state is drawing moisture from the Arabian Sea. Over the next 24 hours, isolated drizzles are likely in Bhopal, Guna, Ujjain and Jabalpur divisions and hail is likely in isolated places,'' Regional Meteorological Centre Director D P Dubey told UNI.....

Coffee reduces risks of cancer, diabetes type 2 : Study

Chennai, Mar 4 (UNI) Drinking strong coffee not only refreshes one's mind but also reduces risks of cancer and diabetes type II, according to studies by an eminent radiation biologist. Coffee, once perceived as unhealthy, was indeed capable of removing harmful entities and preventing various types of cancer, including tobacco-induced carcinogenesis (production of cancerous tumours), pancreatic cancer and alcohol-related liver cirrhosis, said radiation biologist P C Kesavan, who was also former Director, Bio-Medical Group in Baba Atomic Research Centre.
