Canara Bank launches Centenary deposit scheme

Bangalore, Mar 12 (UNI) The Canara Bank today announced the launch of a new deposit scheme to mark its centenary, offering a 9.5 per cent interest rate on one year deposits.

The scheme, called the 'Canara Bank Centenary Deposit Scheme' would be effective from today. The minimum deposit would be Rs 10,000 and the offer would be for a limited period only, the Bank said in a release here.

Deposits from senior citizens would attract half a per cent more interest, the release added.

India asked to create spectrum for 3G technology

Idol in TN temple worth Rs 15 lakh missing

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nad, Mar 16 (UNI) The 175 ft Panchaloka idol weighing 11 kgs and worth Rs 15 lakh was stolen from Maliswaran temple at Chengalmal in Kelambakkam, near here yesterday. Police said the watchman of the temple noticed a stranger leaving the temple premises during the morning pooja. The temple authorities chase went in vain as the stranger managed to escape. Committee opposing port development to intensify stir

Puducherry, Mar 16 (UNI) The committee opposing the acquisition of housing plots and land at Thengaithittu for the development of the port here has decided to intensify their stir to press the government to drop the proposal.
