ATF production begins at ONGC plant in Hazira

Surat, Mar 12 (UNI) Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) (Ltd) has formally begun production of Aviation Turbine Fuel at their Hazira plant here today, ONGC Director (Offshore) N K Mitra said.

Gas-based ATF is used as an aviation fuel and ONGC is the first company in the country to manufacture it. The ATF manufactured in Hazira plant will be superior in terms of thermal stability and viscocity and it will be environmental friendly, sources added.

The ONGC plant at Hazira has a capacity to produce around 950 cubic meters of ATF every day. The ATF will be made available in the open market in three months, sources added.

Law and order situation has worsened in Gujarat: Modhwadia

Gandhinagar, Mar 12 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Arjun Modhwadia today alleged that the law and order situation in Gujarat has deteriorated under the present regime. In a debate on the budgetary demands of the Home Department, Mr Modhwadia said the state has recorded over 17,300 unnatural deaths during the last one year. Over 10 lakh students appear for SSC, HSC exams in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Mar 12 (UNI) More than 10 lakh students today appeared for the School Secondary Certificate (Std X) and the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std XII) examinations across the state, amid tight security arrangements. While 6.7 lakh took the SSC examinations, another 3.38 lakh students went for the the HSC exams. A total of 892 exam centres have been established for the purpose. Gogoi presents Rs 2,836 crore deficit budget for 2007-08

Guwahati, Mar 12 (UNI) Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today presented Rs 2,836 crore deficit budget for 2007-08 with greater emphasis on better tax collection than imposing fresh taxes. Mr Gogoi, also the Finance Minister of the state, proposed some fringe taxes, not targeting bigger revenue share, and suggested reduction of a number of taxes, which could give a boost to the infrastructure sector.
