7 Hardcore NSCN(IM) cadres surrender to BSF

Agartala, Mar 12 (UNI) Seven cadres of Nagaland-based NSCN(IM) today laid down arms and ammunition before the BSF and returned to normal life in Tripura's North district.

BSF sources said the insurgents surrendered before Inspector General of BSF, Tripura Frontier, J A Khan at Panisagar. The dreaded militants deposited one each of AK 47 rifle, AK 56 rifle, Sniper rifle and four M21 rifles, eight magazines, 1307 rounds of ammunition and eight hand grenades.

Of the seven rebels, four were Manipuris and the rest Nagas, sources said adding those who surrendered were brought at Panisagar from Khantlang Border Outpost, close to neighbouring Mizoram. The guerrillas had sneaked into Tripura from Bangladesh during the last week of February following some encounters between rival groups.

The border guards will contact the Nagaland government for taking over the surrendered rebels. Their interrogation was on.

Police to march inside Nandigram

Kolkata, Mar 12 (UNI) The West Bengal Government will shortly augment police force and conduct raids in Nandigram to flush out ''outsiders'' holed up in the strife-torn area, Home Secretary Prasad Ranjan Ray today said.
