16 houses and few agro dept huts gutted in 2 separate fire accidents

Aizawl, Mar 12 (UNI) A fire engulfed at least 16 houses of the upper republic locality here last night.

Police said the fire that broke out from an LPG cylinder destroyed a piggery. However, the total value of loss is yet to be ascertained. No casualties were reported, police confirmed.

Five fire engines were presed into service.

Meanwhile,in another incident, a few state agriculture department huts in the Kolashib area, along Mizoram-Asom border were also gutted yesterday from 'Jhum' fire.

Police arrested two persons who had set fire to the Jhum land.

The house, which caught fire here was a store for pump sets and rice threshing mechines.

Ban on some cable channels to continue in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 9 (UNI) Rejecting the appeal made by breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Ghulam Nabi Sumji, two mlitants outfits - Al-Madina and Al-Badr said ban imposed on some cable channels in Kashmir will continue.
