Varsity notice to professor on 'fund scam'

Visakhapatnam, Mar 11 (UNI) The Andhra University (AU) Executive Council today decided to issue a notice to Population Research Centre Former Director M Vivekananda Murthy in connection with misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 98 lakh.

According to an AU press release here, the Executive Council meeting held under the Chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Venugopal Reddy decided to serve a notice to Prof Murthy for an explanation.

Madikeri, Karnataka, Mar 11 (UNI) Nine lorries, illegally transporting hay to neighbouring Kerala, were seized at Virajpet in the bordering Kodagu district of Karnataka. Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav, who recently visited the Kodagu-Kerala border, found the regular transport of hay without any permission, even though a new law restricted its inter-state transport. He immediately instructed the taluk police officials to stop the movement. However, the sudden enforcement has hit the farmers hard as they were regularly selling hay to.....

Company Secretaries' exam results out

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) The Institute of Company Secretaries today declared the results of the examinations held in December 2006. The results along with subject-wise marks are available on the institute's website -- www.icsi.edu. These would also be sent through e-mail to the students who had registered their requests on the website. The next examination of Company Secretaries for foundation, intermediate and final courses will be held from June 2 to June 10. The last date for receipt of enrolment.....

Suitcase creates flutter

Chennai, Mar 11 (UNI) An unclaimed suitcase created a flutter among the security personnel, visitors, and airport authorities at the departure area of Kamaraj Domestic Airport here today. The abandoned suitcase, which had been there for quite a long time was noticed by the CISF personnel who informed their seniors, sources said. Killer husband falls prey to his own devious means

Mysore, Mar 11 (UNI) An auto driver has been forced to pay the price for his own criminal act. Police said Mahadeva, a drunkard, allegedly doused his wife Nagaveni, 28 with kerosene while she was fast asleep and set her ablaze, in the city last night. However, unable to bear the agony, Nagaveni hugged Mahadeva and screamed for help. While Nagaveni succumbed to the burns, Mahadeva had been admitted to a private hospital with severe burns. UNI.....
