Two Pak nationals among 4 LET militants arrested in poonch

Jammu, Mar 11 (UNI) Four Lashkar-e-toiba (LET) militants, including two Pakistanis, were arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police in Mendhar tehsil of poonch district last evening, sources said today.

Acting on a tip-off, a police party conducted a raid at a village bordering rajouri district and arrested two Pakistani nationals, Abdul Majid and Zamil Ahmed, along with two locals Mohammad Taj and Feroz Mohammad, residents of sangoit, the sources said.

During questioning, militants also disclosed the presence of their four aides in Jammu, who were planning to carry fidayeen attack at general bus stand and railway station, the sources added.

Further investigation is on.

Mr Kapoor filed his nominations in six sets at 1222 hrs today for the election slated to be held tomorrow. His name was proposed by six MLAs that included BJP MLAs Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Prakash Pant, Trivendra Rawat, Bishan Singh Chufal and two independent MLAs.....

Kashmir highway closed due to landslides, thousands stranded

Srinagar, Mar 11 (UNI) The 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, lifeline to Kashmir, was today closed for traffic following landslides and shooting stones, triggered by heavy rains. The fresh rains triggered landslides and shooting stones at Penthal, the most troubled spot on the highway, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Mohammad Amin Shah told UNI. The authorities have allowed only one-way traffic on the highway for the past three months to avoid any risk. Today one-way traffic was allowed from Srinagar to Jammu......

Three members of family die as car falls into canal

Ludhiana, Mar 11 (UNI) Three members of a family, including two women were killed when their car fell into the Nangal canal near Gurthali village in this district of Punjab police today stated. The accident took place when the driver of the vehicle lost control and it fell into the canal last night. Army divers had to been summoned to fish out the dead. The deceased were identified as Narinder Kaur, Harjinder Kaur and Harcharan Singh. They were returning from Anandpur.....
