Two-day workshop on IPR in Goa from tomorrow

Panaji, Mar 11 (UNI) National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) director S R Shetye will inaugurate a two-day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights here tomorrow.

The workshop is being jointly organised by the NIO and the Goa University and sponsored by the European Union-India and Trade and Investment Development Programme.

The deliberations will focus on challenges and opportunities for public funded research and development organistions in the post-TRIPs (Trade Related Iintellectual Property) era.

Eminent scientists and IPR personnel including experts from Germany besides faculty memers from the Goa University would participate.

Nitish promises speedy execution of development schemes

Kahalgaon, Mar 11 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said his government was committed to accelerating the pace of development in the state by ensuring speedy and successful completion of development and welfare schemes. Stray peacock spotted in Kidderpore dock

Kidderpore, Mar 11 (UNI) A stray peacock has been spotted in Kidderpore's Dock-3, animal control officials said. The peacock was hiding in a tree and attempting to escape the animal control officers. Dock officials first noticed it on the roof of one of the buildings, beside the passenger platform from which ship leave for Andaman, an animal officer Nilendu Paul said yesterday. Report on women's abuse to be submitted to NCW by Mar 16

Hazaribagh, Mar 11 (UNI) National Commission for Women(NCW) member Manju Hembrom today visited the two villages of the district where a few women were reportedly abused on March 4. Talking to reporters here, after visiting Baihri and Chano villages, Ms Hembrom said the incident of abuse was confirmed by the victims. She further said that a report in this connection would be filed and submitted to NCW by March 16. The Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police had also been questioned.....
