Three members of family die as car falls into canal

Ludhiana, Mar 11 (UNI) Three members of a family, including two women were killed when their car fell into the Nangal canal near Gurthali village in this district of Punjab police today stated.

The accident took place when the driver of the vehicle lost control and it fell into the canal last night. Army divers had to been summoned to fish out the dead.

The deceased were identified as Narinder Kaur, Harjinder Kaur and Harcharan Singh. They were returning from Anandpur Sahib to Kotha Pannu village.

A fourth occupant of the car identified as Jaswinder Kaur however got saved as she was thrown out of the vehicle when it rolled into the canal.

Srinagar, Mar 11 (UNI) Two persons were killed when some Explosive substance exploded in a shop at fruit Mandi here early this morning. Police said two persons Mohammad Asif and Feroz Ahmad were killed when an explosion occurred in the fruit Mandi Parimpora. Police have registered a case and started investigation. UNI.....

Punjab government shifts eight Deputy Commissioners

Chandigarh, Mar 11 (UNI) In the first major reshuffle of the bureaucracy after the SAD-BJP government assumed power, the Punjab Government today shifted 27 civil officers including Excise and Taxation Commissioner Mukul Joshi and eight Deputy Commissioners. Mr Joshi who was also Principal Secretary Industrial Liason and Financial Commissioner, Excise and Taxation has been made Principal Secretary, Freedom Fighters. The government also shifted the deputy commissioners of Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Muktsar, Patiala, Mansa, Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Moga. Another significant appointment.....

Police unearth hideout, recover war like stores in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police have busted a hideout and recovered war like stores in the south Kashmir district of Pulwama, a police spokesman said. He said acting on a tip off, Pulwama Police conducted a search operation at Thokerpora Rohmu early today. During the operation, police busted a hideout and recovered arms and ammunition, including one AK-56 rifle, ten Magazines, 15000 rounds of ammunition, five Pistol magazines. two wireless sets, four UBGL grenades, five Chinese Grenades, one.....
