Three arrested in Jharkhand

Chatra, Mar 11 (UNI) Three persons were arrested from Loherdega in this district of Jharkhand for illegaly carrying banned meat to Gaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

Suprintendent of Police Kamlesh Kumar here today said all of them were arrested after their truck, carrying the illegal meat, turned turtle on Catra-Dobhi road under Sadar police station area here yesterday.

No casulty was reported.

Police had arrested the truck driver and two others in this connection.

Police officer arrested on rape charge

Kishanganj, Mar 11 (UNI) In a startling development, controversial and suspended Officer-in-charge (OC) of Dighalbank police station Faiyaz Alam was arrested on the charges of alleged rape and bribery after he was badly mauled and thrashed by an irate mob. According to police sources, the OC, who was found closeted with a 23-year old divorcee in a house at Faldawal village under Dighalbank police station, was accosted by irate villagers. Five opium smugglers nabbed

Chatra, Mar 11 (UNI) Police arrested five smugglers and recovered about 500 grams of opium from Simaria here today. Police sources said the five were identified as Naresh Saw and Jagdish Saw from Sabono village and Shyamlal Saw, Naresh Saw and Dinesh from Unta village. They were plucking poppy seeds from an opium field in Ranipokhartola in Sabano village here, sources added. The field owner, along with two other smugglers, managegd to escape. Police had registered a case under Narcotics Act.....
