Tension prevails following double murder in TN

Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, Mar 11 (UNI) Tension prevailed for almost the whole day, following a double murder incident near Thachanallur village on the Tirunelveli-Madurai bypass road near here today.

Police said an armed gang intercepted two youths namely Kannan and Kumar and attacked them with lethal weapons, killing them on the spot.

Police suspected the reason behind the murder might be the previous enemity between the two communities in that area.

Based on the information, a large gathering of the relatives of the deceased resorted to road-roko, protesting against the murder and refusing to remove the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem.

However, top police officials rushed to the spot and persuaded the agitators to remove the blockade.

Elaborate police bandobust and intensive patrolling was made in and around that area to avoid fresh trouble, police added.

Hoax call in school examination hall

Surat, Mar 12 (UNI) A school here received a call that a bomb had been planted in the premises today, but the SSC examination was unaffected after it turned out to be a hoax call. Barasat, Mar 12 (UNI) Sudhir Bhattacharya, the political guru of many CPI(M) stalwarts in West Bengal, with five other accused were sent to jail by additional District and Sessions court in a murder case here today.
