Ten killed, 34 injured in truck accident in western Orissa

Sambalpur, Mar 11 (UNI) Ten members of a marriage party were killed and 34 others injured, some of them seriously, when the truck carrying them overturned near Piplipali, about 80 km from here today.

Police said the mini truck carrying the marriage party, was returning to Piplipali from Talmunda when the accident occurred.

While four people died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries in the Baragarh Hospital and four in the V S S Medical College and Hospital at Burla.

Of the 34 injured, at least 15 were admitted to the V S S Medical College and Hospital while the rest were being treated at the Baragarh Hospital.

Police said the deceased included six from Talmunda village, three form Bahalipali and one from Sargipali village under Bargarh district.

Sambalpur MP Prasanna Acharya, Bargarh District Collector Harihar Panigrahi and Superintendent of Police N B Bharati rushed to the spot to shift the injured people to the hospitals.

Sambalpur Revenue Divisional Commissioner Ashok Dalwai who visited both VSS medical college and Bargarh hospital to take stock of the situation,assured medical assistance to the injured people.

Indigo faces bomb scare

Kolkata, Mar 11 (UNI) An Indigo flight from Kolkata to Nagpur returned to the Dum Dum Airport following a bomb hoax. Official sources said, the flight returned after an anonymous caller told the Air Traffic Control that that there was bomb aboard the Indigo flight. Soon after, the aircraft landed. Indo-Bangla border to be fenced along tiger reserve in Mizoram

Aizawl, Mar 11 (UNI) The Mizoram Environment and Forests department has decided to fence the 318 km stretch of the Indo-Bangla border along the Dampa Tiger Reserve, which has been opened for animal movement. Official sources said here today that concerned with the national security the Home Ministry had allowed fencing of the 80 km stretch across the reserved forest area. Butcher shops in Kashmir closed, other essentials cost more
