Sunidhi eager to cut international album

Lucknow, Mar 11 (UNI) Her enviable Bollywood playback singing status notwithstanding, top female crooner Sunidhi Chauhan would still love to cut an international album.

''It is an ultimate dream of every singer to launch an international album...I am no different,'' Sunidhi chuckled, when asked for her reaction, if she was offerred a chance to cut an English album.

''I admit, that I croon like the English singers and can sing in the Queen's language with panache...yes, I would love to go international,'' she said.

The singer also mentioned her undiluted liking for Mariah Carrey and Alicia Keys among the international artistes.

Sunidhi started singing at the age of four and came to limelight after winning a singing talent show on Doordarshan's 'Meri Awaaz Suno', hosted by Anu Kapoor.

There was no looking back for her after that and she has been singing for all the top-notch music directors and banners in the Bollywood.

Looking back at her successful journey so far, the singer maintained she would like to retain her identity and strike balance between playback singing and live performances.

She also wished Team India good luck in the Cricket World Cup, underway in the West Indies.

The svelte crooner has already won two Filmfare awards, besides Zee Cine Award, Star Screen Award and RD Burman Award for her soulful rendition of songs.

Interestingly, Sunidhi did not undergo any formal training in the early stages of her carrer.

She is in the city to perform in the Idea Rocks India concert this evening. It is in the series of 25 performances across India.

She is accompanied by up-and-coming musician Raghav Sachar and laughter champion Navin Prabhakar.

The concert is being organised by India's fifth largest mobile phone service provider and operator IDEA Cellular.

Adhunik Metaliks subsidiary bags Rs 53 cr order

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) Iron and steel products maker Adhunik Metaliks Ltd today said its wholly-owned subsidiary has bagged a Rs 53 crore order from India Wireless Technology Ltd. The order received by Unistar Galvanisers&Fabricators Pvt Ltd is for the manufacture and supply of complete telecommunication towers and is sufficient for its four-five month of production facility, the company said. Unistar was acquired by the company in July 2006. The company is on a capex programme to increase.....

No shortage of wheat in country: FCI

Chandigarh, Mar 12 (UNI) The Food Corporation of India (FCI) today stated that there was no shortage of wheat stocks in the country and presently around 45 lakh tonnes of wheat reserves were lying with the government. The government had to import 55 lakh tonnes of wheat to control the rising wheat prices and not because there was shortage of the foodgrain in the country, FCI Acting Director J P Sharma told mediapersons here.
