Strawberry grows in Nagaland

Kohima, Mar 11(UNI) Strawberry cultivation has been started x successfully in Nagalnd using organic farming methods.

The first best of locally grown organic strawberries in Niathu Gardens at Zubza under Kohima district, about 13 Kms away from Kohima, was on display at the Floral Galleria at Kohima Local ground, organised by the Nagaland Horticulture Department on Thursday last. This exotic fruit was being grown in Nagaland in a large scale using modern technology and contemporary farming methods.

The producers said the productivity was quite high. Initially the garden began with around 4,000 plants and after successful harvesting, the cultivation would be increased.

The Nagaland Department of Horticulture has also tied up with the private firms to provide technical knowhow to the growers.

Counting of votes begins in Punjab

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) Counting of votes commenced at 0800 hrs this morning at 116 polling centres simultaneously across Punjab, where over 76 per cent of 1.67 crore electorate had participated in the polls for 116 assembly seats. The counting was also taken up for the prestigious Amritsar Lok Sabha seat where star BJP candidate Navjot Singh Sidhu is pitted against state finance minister Surinder Singla.
