Report on women's abuse to be submitted to NCW by Mar 16

Hazaribagh, Mar 11 (UNI) National Commission for Women(NCW) member Manju Hembrom today visited the two villages of the district where a few women were reportedly abused on March 4.

Talking to reporters here, after visiting Baihri and Chano villages, Ms Hembrom said the incident of abuse was confirmed by the victims. She further said that a report in this connection would be filed and submitted to NCW by March 16.

The Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police had also been questioned in this connection.

SAD-BJP combine ahead in 31, Congress leading in 16 seats

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)-BJP combine forged ahead in 31 seats while the ruling Congress was leading in 16 constituencies, according to trends available for 48 seats in the Punjab assembly polls. Prominent among those ahead were Chief Minister Amarinder Singh (Patiala) SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal(Lambi), Former SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur (SAD) lost the Bholath seat. Leaders trailing were Tourism Minister Jagmohan Singh Kang (Morinda) and Local Bodies minister Chaudahary Jagjit Singh from Kartarpur.....

SRSU appeals for peace to NSCN faction

Kohima, Mar 11(UNI) The Satakha Range Students' Union(SRSU) has appealed to the leaders of the NSCN factions to restrain their cadres from fighting in civilian inhabited areas. In a release here today, SRSU Secretary K Jimo said inter- factional clashes have caused miseries, loss of livestock and properties. Lives of the civilians were also threatened and they were living in perpetual fear and trauma. Taking into account the civilian casualties and miseries of people caused by the continued skirmishes.....

Strawberry grows in Nagaland

Kohima, Mar 11(UNI) Strawberry cultivation has been started x successfully in Nagalnd using organic farming methods. The first best of locally grown organic strawberries in Niathu Gardens at Zubza under Kohima district, about 13 Kms away from Kohima, was on display at the Floral Galleria at Kohima Local ground, organised by the Nagaland Horticulture Department on Thursday last. This exotic fruit was being grown in Nagaland in a large scale using modern technology and contemporary farming methods. The producers said.....
