Rajiv Swagruha programme kicks off on March 27: CM

Hyderabad, Mar 11 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government's much ambitious programme 'Rajiv Swagruha', for providing houses to the middle-income group people in all the municipalities and corporations at an affordable cost, will kick off on March 25, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy announced here today.

The Chief Minister said the applications received through e-seva centres would be scrutinised immediately and action plans and list of allotees would be prepared at the earliest. He had asked the Andhra Pradesh Housing Board to take up land acquisition after completing the demand survey in the respective municipalities and corporations.

Bank loans would be arranged to the allotees and the government would also consider providing interest subsidy. "I am sure prices of the houses and flats will be 25 per cent less than the prevailing market rates", he added.

Dr Reddy said the government would create history by successfully completing the project, realising the long cherished dream of the middle-class people to own a house in the urban areas. He appealed to all the middle-income group people in the corporations and municipalities in the state to get involved in the project and derive maximum benefit of this scheme of the government.

The Chief Minister also assured that the government would take all necessary steps on the quality of construction.

Villagers of Thengaithittu decide to intensify strike

Puducherry, Mar 11 (UNI) The villagers of the Thengaithittu opposing the port development project has decided to intensify their strike to press the government and drop the proposal here. Over 300 villagers led by Councillor Bhaskaran and Puducherry Lok Sabha Member M Ramadass today went to Thailavaram and met PMK Founder and Leader Dr Ramdoss and urged his intervention in the matter.
