Pulse Polio drive in MP

Bhopal, Mar 11 (UNI) Children upto the age of five years were administered anti-polio drops in Madhya Pradesh's Betul, Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Tikamgarh, Panna, Indore, Dhar, Jhabua, Barwani, Burhanpur, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi and Ratlam districts under the Pulse Polio Campaign today.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan administered drops to six kids at Karahal in Sheopur Kalan. Reports spoke of parliamentarians, legislators and officials taking part in the drive at various places. From 0800 hrs, Health Department teams, voluntary and other organisations, Rotary Club and Lions Club members set up camps. The target was to benefit 60 lakh children. A two-day door-to-door campaign would get underway tomorrow.

As many as 31,863 booths and 1,310 transit booths were set up and 843 mobile teams were operating. The number of workers is 78,949 who are being supervised by 5,269 people.

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) Riding high on the crest of anti-incumbency and fuelled by common man's anger over back-breaking price-hike, SAD patriarch Parkash Singh Badal led the SAD-BJP alliance to power in Punjab capturing 67 in the 117-member Vidhan Sabha today, ousting the ruling Congress. Sidhu gets re-elected from Amritsar LS seat

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu (BJP) was today re-elected from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat which he resigned in December last after being convicted in an 18-year-old road rage death case. Sidhu defeated Punjab Finance Minister Surinder Singla (Congress) by a margin of 77,626 votes in the bye-election which witnessed a bitter campaign.
