Nitish promises speedy execution of development schemes

Kahalgaon, Mar 11 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said his government was committed to accelerating the pace of development in the state by ensuring speedy and successful completion of development and welfare schemes.

Mr Kumar reiterated that the various schemes that the state government has taken up will be completed within the stipulated time frame.

During the review meeting here, on implementation of various schemes in Banka, Navgachhia and Bhagalpur districts, Mr Kumar issued a directive to officers concerned, urging them to work towards the successful and speedy execution of development and welfare schemems.

The Chief Minister directed the officers to rectify irregularities in the Below Povery Line list and asked them to complete the Mukhya Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna and Prime Minister Rural Road Schemes on priority basis.

He also held a detailed discussion with officers of Airport Authority of India (AAI) and the district administration to take stock of the situation on the ongoing upgradation and extension work at Bhagalpur and Munger airports.

Centre to set up institute to study seismic activity in NE

Aizwal, Mar 11 (UNI) The Ministry of Earth Sciences will set up a research institute to study seismic activities in the Northeast and has already sent a proposal to the Finance Ministry for necessary sanction. Official sources here today said following the proposal of NE states the ministry had initiated the move of setting up an exclusive centre to survey the seismic activities in the region. SAD-BJP combine ahead in 31, Congress leading in 16 seats

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)-BJP combine forged ahead in 31 seats while the ruling Congress was leading in 16 constituencies, according to trends available for 48 seats in the Punjab assembly polls. Prominent among those ahead were Chief Minister Amarinder Singh (Patiala) SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal(Lambi), Former SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur (SAD) lost the Bholath seat.
