Naxals try to disrupt ZP polls in Gadchiroli

Nagpur, Mar 11 (UNI) A villager and a policeman were injured in a blast, triggered by Naxals, targetted at a polling party at Kasamsur Sewari in Etapalli taluka of Gadchiroli district.

The Naxals also opened fire at the police party accompanying the polling officials at four places in Gadchiroli district.

The incident occurred when the polling officials were returning to the base camp with the EVMs after the polling. The firing was reported from Etapalli, Gatta Jambhiya, Kothi-Koyma in Bhamragarh and Pendhri-Kamtada in Dhanora taluka.

A landmine was also recovered by the police at Pendhri-Kamtada.

The same was later defused.

Gadchiroli superintendent of police Shirish Jain said the villager and the police jawan injured in the blast have been admitted to the hospital here and both of them are out of danger.

Seven killed, 37 injured in truck accident

Sambalpur, Mar 11 (UNI) Seven members of a marriage party were killed and 37 others injured, some of them seriously, when the truck carrying them overturned near Piplipal, about 80 km from here today.
