MP bypoll: BJP retains Udaypura

Bhopal, Mar 11 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh's ruling BJP today retained the Udaypura Assembly seat while it was leading in Gwalior Lok Sabha constituency but the main opposition Congress was ahead in Sidhi (ST) Lok Sabha seat, official sources said while providing bypoll details.

Ms Shashi Prabha Singh was declared elected from Raisen district's Udaypura by 1100 hrs. She vanquished her nearest rival Mr Sahib Singh Patel (Congress) by a margin exceeding 19,000.

In Gwalior, state Tourism and Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia was leading over Mr Ashok Singh (Cong) by about 14,000 votes.

At Sidhi, Mr Manik Singh (Cong) secured a crucial lead of 25,000 votes over Mr Kunwar Singh (BJP).

3-year-old girl slips into 60-feet borewell

Bhavnagar, Mar 11 (UNI) A three-year-old girl reportedly fell into a 60-feet dry borewell in Karmadia village, 100 km away from here, this afternoon. Police said Arti Chawda, who was trying to climb a tree, slipped and fell into the borewell.
