MoU to streamline Indian workers handed over to Kuwait

Dubai, Mar 11 (UNI) India has handed over to Kuwait a copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), on Indian workers in the kingdom, pending final ratification by both governments, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said.

''Discussions in this regard with Foreign Affairs Ministry Under secretary Khalid Al-Jarrah had been held,'' Mr Ahamed, who arrived in Kuwait on a brief visit, told Kuwait Times yesterday.

''Indian government will take necessary follow-up measures in accordance with the response from the Kuwaiti government,'' the minister said.

India and Kuwait had decided during the Indo-Kuwait Joint Commission meeting last year to finalise a MoU to streamline the flow of workers into the kingdom and safeguard their interests, Mr Ahamed said, adding Kuwait has expressed its willingness to support India's claim to host the Asian Games in 2014.

The position of Kuwait in this regard was conveyed during his talks with Kuwait Olympic Committee Honorary President and National Security Advisor Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahd Al-Sabah yesterday.

Kathmandu, Mar 14 (UNI) Nepalese officials arrested eight persons including a former pilot and a Nepali Army soldier, on the charge of poaching the endangered one-horned rhino.
