Insat 4B launch deferred till tomorrow

Bangalore, Mar 11 (UNI) The launch of India's latest communication satellite Insat 4B was deferred by a day this morning following an anomaly noticed in the launchpad seven minutes before the scheduled blast off.

The satellite was to be launched by Ariane Five vehicle of Arianespace from Kourou, French Guyana between 0355 hrs and 0428 hrs today.

ISRO sources told UNI that the launch window has been rescheduled for tomorrow between 0355 and 0428 hrs IST.

Insat 4B was the second in the fourth generation Insat series aimed at augmenting the transponders capacity from three constellation of Insat satellite to 199 from the present 175.

It carried 12 high power Ku-band transponders for DTH transmission and 12 C-band transponders.

The Ariane Five, first for the year, was to put into orbit British spy satellite Skynet-5A, besides Insat 4B.

4 killed, 30 injured in UP road accident

Bijnaur, Mar 11 (UNI) At least four persons, including an infant, were killed and 30 others grievously injured after a private bus, in which they were travelling, collided head on with a roadways bus here today. Police said the bus, on its way to Bijnaur, met with an accident on the Nazimabad-Bijnaur highway under Kotwali police station area, killing four persons on the spot. Police register FIR against killing of two civilians by Army

Srinagar, Mar 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police today registered a FIR in connection with the alleged killing of two civilians by the 50 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in South Kashmir yesterday. Obsene video triggers protests in Uttarakhand

Dehradun, Mar 11 (UNI) The circulation of obscene video clippings showing an 18-year-old girl sparked off protests by the students and locals in the Pauri district of Uttarakhand today. The students attacked shops and gheroed police station seeking an action against the culprit. Police had to resort to baton-charge to quell the agitated mob. One Faizal Khan (21) was arrested in this connection. The girl has also been brought to 'thana' for investigation. On interrogation, the arrested youth admitted.....
