Indo-Bangla border to be fenced along tiger reserve in Mizoram

Aizawl, Mar 11 (UNI) The Mizoram Environment and Forests department has decided to fence the 318 km stretch of the Indo-Bangla border along the Dampa Tiger Reserve, which has been opened for animal movement.

Official sources said here today that concerned with the national security the Home Ministry had allowed fencing of the 80 km stretch across the reserved forest area.

The department had earlier suggested that five animal corridors should be left open for animal movement. But it was opposed by the Border Security Force since big stream and river areas are not be fenced as per the plan.

Sources said the forests officials have also opposed to the proposed 13 Border Outposts (BOP) and said this could be very adverse for the wild animals since all BOPs become mini-villages.

Meanwhile, the Mizoram Bio-diversity Board has initiated a proposal to conduct a survey to identify the bio-diversity richness in order to preserve the natural resources of the state.

DSIIDC to build 4,348 worker's homes

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) will build 4,348 more low-cost homes for workers, its Managing Director Manoj Parida said. The corporation has earmarked an area of 23.55 acres of residential pocket at Bawana Industrial Complex where 3,164 dwelling units have already been constructed as part of the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme. Mr Parida said the scheme is on self-financing basis and has been opened for low-income group staff of public sector undertakings.....

PoK traders likely to postpone J

Jammu, Mar 11 (UNI) The first ever delegation of traders from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which was scheduled to arrive here on March 13, is likely to postpone its visit as Pakistan authorities were yet to give clearance to the delegates, an industry leader today said. ''We have been informed that the delegation has not been given the clearance from Pakistan government as yet, so their trip is likely to postpone little further,'' Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) president.....

Transport Dept reacts to criticism on cutting of trees for HCBS

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Moved by criticism that construction of the first High Capacity Bus System corridor in the capital will entail uprooting of about 4,000 trees, the state transport department has reviewed the project to ensure that less than 1,500 tree need to be cut. As many as 3,928 trees were originally proposed to be cut over the entire length of the 14.5 km-long corridor from Ambedkar Nagar in South Delhi to Delhi Gate near the walled city but.....
