ICAI, IGNOU to ink MoU on specialised B Com, M Com courses

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for launch of specialised B.Com and M.Com courses granting exemption to the ICAI students for the subjects studied in the Chartered Accountancy (CA) course.

ICAI has been negotiating with Indian Universities, including IGNOU, for exempting common subjects of study in B.Com and M.Com courses in the distance learning mode.

The MoU will be signed here on March 12.

Apart from providing better time management on the part of the students, this will enhance scope of practical training and case based learning, avoiding repetitive study in the same subjects.

This will prove an attractive proposition for any student pursuing commerce education from IGNOU and simultaneously pursuing the CA course. The students will be able to attain the CA degree and simultaneously complete their graduation and post-graduation in commerce, a press statement here said.
