23 militancy affected families paid compensation in north Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 11 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned ex-gratia relief to 23 militancy affected families in the frontier district of Kupwara, an official spokesman said today.

The District Level Screening Committee (DLSC) took a number of cases of militancy affected families in the Kupwara district.

He said after a thorough discussion the DLSC sanctioned Rs 5.48 lakh in favour of 23 militancy related cases.

Of this, he said, Rs one lac lakh each was sanctioned in favour of next of kin of two deceased persons,while Rs 1.55 lakh in favour of five injured persons and Rs 1.92 lakh for 16 property damaged cases.

Srinagar, Mar 11 (UNI) All the far flung and remote villages in Jammu and Kashmir will be connected by road by 2009 at the cost of Rs Rs 5400 crores under Prime Minister Grameen Sarak Yogna (PMGSY), minister for works Gulchain Singh Charak said. People protest in south Kashmir against killing of two by army

Srinagar, Mar 11 (UNI) People today took to strees at Aripal in south Kashmir district of Pulwama protesting against the killing of two civilians allegedly by Rashitriya Rifles (RR) yesterday. However, a defence ministry spokesman said that both the civilians were killed by militants during an encounter with troops. The demonstrators, who also blocked main road and raised slogans against the security forces, alleged that personnel of 50 RR opened fire on people who were opposing for taking some local youths.....
