Vijaya Bank celebrates International Women's Day

Bangalore, Mar 10: Vijaya Bank celebrated International Women's Day at Bangalore.

Addressing the gathering at Shri Mulki Sundar Ram Shetty Auditorium in Head Office on the occasion, Chief Guest and Member of Parliament Dr. (Smt.) Tejashwini Sreeramesh who is also the member of the powerful Parliamentary Committee on Women Empowerment, said that while there is a greater need for awareness regarding Women's  protection and empowerment, what is of wider significance is the holistic approach involving all other issues like Human rights, environment protection and bio diversity which affect society as a whole need to be addressed as well , in order to make a meaningful impact on the quality of life of women.

Speaking on the occasion the Chairman&Managing Director Sri Prakash P. Mallya said that the Bank is committed to the task of Women Empowerment towards which a number of schemes were already in place, particularly for women in rural areas. The Net credit to women is 5.89 % as against the RBI norm of 5%. At the work front,  the Bank has one of the best working environment for women which is constantly monitored to ensure qualitative improvement.

Addressing the gathering Sri T Valliappan, Executive Director exhorted the women employees to emulate the role models and contribute to the welfare of the women community.

The Programme came to an end with a cultural event of music programme.

Vijaya Bank to hit capital market again

Kochi, Aug 7: Vijaya Bank proposes to raise Rs 300 crore from the capital market in December or January this financial year, CMD Prakash P Mallya said today. Addressing the press here, Mr Mallya said the bank raised Rs 200 crore from the market some time ago and would go to the market again later this year to raise another Rs 300 crore.
