Trader kills daughter, mother: commits suicide

Ahmedabad, Mar 10 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a shopkeeper murdered his mother and two young daughters before committing suicide in Mrudula Park-II society in Sola area on the Western outskirts of the city today.

Rajendra Dhanjibhai Patel (37) hanged his two daughters -- Khusali (8) and Nandini (4)--and suffocated his mother Madhuben (60) at his residence this morning. Subsequently, Rajendra hanged himself from the ceiling fan to end his life, police sources said.

However, his wife Lalita (35), who is a teacher in nearby Sarthak Primary School, was not present in the house when the incident took place, police said.

According to Lalita, the family was neither in financial nor in any social problem which could force her husband to take such a drastic step.

Police have registered a case of suicide and mass murders.

States advised to deploy Tourist Police

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Tourism Ministry has advised the state governments to deploy 'Tourist Police' at important tourist destinations to ensure the safety and security of monuments and foreign tourists, the government informed the Lok Sabha today. In a written reply, Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni said Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi are among thestates which have already deployed 'Tourist Police' in one form or another......

Telgi's wife released on health grounds

Pune, Mar 10 (UNI) Shahida Adbul Karim Telgi, wife of the prime accused in the inter-state multi-crore fake stamps paper scam Abdul Karim Telgi was today released from Yerwada jail on health grounds. MCOCA Judge Chitra Bhedi yesterday granted bail to Shahida on health grounds and a surety of Rs one lakh. The court also ordered her to remain in Bangalore and seek prior permission from the court before leaving the city. The Court asked defence Lawyer Milind Pawar to intimate.....

Railways identify 20 locations for budget hotels

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Railways have decided to set up a hundred budget hotels all over its network through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), out of which tenders for 20 locations have been finalised, the Lok Sabha was informed today. In a written reply, Minister of State for Railways R Velu said these hotels would be set up by IRCTC on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model on the unused railway land in the vicinity of stations......
