Tanzanian, Nigerian arrested in connection with Pune Rave party

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Police have arrested three suspected drug peddlers, including a Tanzanian and a Nigerian national, in connection with the recent Pune rave party and seized narcotics from them.

Nbabwa Ally Zuma, the Tanzanian national, was arrested from Mathura road with 10 grams of cocaine. Immanual Nnanta Akiko, the Nigerian national, was arrested from Vasant Vihar on the intervening night of March seven with eight grams of cocaine.

All the three accused have been booked under different sections of NDPS Act.

Police said Zuma visited Pune twice within 10 days recently.

''The last time he visited Pune by air on March two and returned on March three, hours before the rave party in that city was busted,'' DCP (narcotics and crime prevention) A S Cheema said.

Police is looking into Zuma's role in supplying drugs to the rave party as he had studied in Pune in 2002 and lived there for a long time.

The other accused, Akiko, had graduated from Chandigarh and completed his post-graduation from Meerut University in 2005 and was now pursuing his M Phil there, Mr Cheema said.

''Most of his activities centered in Delhi and veracity of all his claims and contacts here are being investigated,'' he added.

The Pune party of young IT professionals and students, including 29 girls and 12 foreigners, was cut short by undercover policemen in a pre-dawn swoop that landed 251 people behind bars.

Both the foreign nationals are believed to have got the narcotics from their native countries, he said.

In another case, one Navin Pratap Singh was arrested from Mangolpuri with 1.5 kg heroin.

All the three drug peddlers were booked under different sections of NDPS Act, Mr Cheema added.
