SIMI activist arrested in Bihar capital

Patna, Mar 10 (UNI) A hardcore activist of the banned Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) Hasib Raza, alias Habib, was arrested from Milkiyana locality under Phulwarisarif police station area of the state capital today.

Police said the SIMI activist was arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off. Habib had been absconding since 2001 and wanted by the police in connection with several cases lodged at Gandhi Maidan poilice station.

Police said Habib was living in a hideout since the SIMI was banned by the Centre.

Habib was being interrogated for his links and other activities.

Earlier a SIMI activist was also arrested by the police in connection with the 7/11 serial bomb blast in Mumbai.

Affair between teacher, student does not account for seduction: SC

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) In an important ruling, the Supreme Court has held that if there is a love affair between a teacher and a student, it does not mean that the girl has been seduced or allured or induced for sexual intercourse. The ruling was handed down by a bench comprising Justices S B Sinha and Markandey Katju while giving a clean chit to a Madhya Pradesh government school teacher Omkar Prasad Verma, who was sentenced to two years.....

Match-fixing: Official declines comment

Indore, Mar 2 (UNI) Amidst a match-fixing dispute regarding the India-West Indies Nagpur one-dayer, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association Joint Secretary Vasu Gangwani has declined to comment further on reports that he owned the cellphone used by all-rounder Marlon Samuels. Indore-resident Gangwani was the local manager of the visiting team. A television news channel quoted Nagpur Police as saying that the phone belonged to Gangwani. Recovery of SIM card solves murder case in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) Recovery of SIM cards again helped Jammu and Kashmir police to solve a blind murder case in Kashmir, a senior police officer said.
