Rs 4.50 crores earmarked for watershed projects in north Kashmir

Srinagar 10 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has earmarked Rs 4.50 crores for various watershed projects in 15 blocks of Baramulla district, while Rs 6.60 lakhs will be spent on the Kishori Suraksha Yojana in the frontier district of Kupwara.

An official spokesman said Rs 4.50 crores would be spent on the projects in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.

Besides, Rs 40 lakhs will be utilized for various soil conservation and crop production system works.

He said an amount of Rs 6.50 lakh would be spent on the Kishori Suraksha Yojana, which would benefit the girls in the age group of 11 to 18 years in Kupwara district.

Police recover dump in Nallamala forest

Mahaboobnagar, Mar 10 (UNI) Police today recovered a dump of spare parts for the Thapanchas used by Naxals in Nallamala forest area at Dildartippa in Kollapur mandal of the district. Based on a tip-off, a police team launched a search operation at Dildartippa in the forest area and seized spare parts of 100 thapanchas concealed in two plastic drums left by Maoists. A search was going on in the nearby area to locate any more dumps of the ultras. UNI.....

Bihar: 1lkh compensation to victims firing

Patna, Mar 17: Bihar government today announced Rs one lakh compensation to the kin of those killed in a police firing at Matihani block in Begusarai district on Friday.While making a statement over the incident in the Assembly, Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said the government had already ordered judicial inquiry to investigate the circumstances leading to police firing, in which two people were killed and several injured.Mr Yadav said the block development officer and officer in-charge of Matihani had been.....

Anbumani warns colleges selling seats

Chennai, Mar 10 (UNI) Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss today warned of strict action against Self-Financing Private Medical Colleges in the country, who were selling medical seats, especially in post-graduate course, for huge sums. Delivering the 13th convocation address of National Board of Examination (NBE) here, the Minister pointed out that a private medical college in the city had sold a post-graduate (radiology) seat for more than Rs one crore. He said the Ministry had been receiving several complaints about commercialisation.....
