RIL nods IPCL merger with itself

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) The boards of directors of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries (RIL) and of Indian Petrochemicals Corporation (IPCL) today unanimously approved merger of the two companies.

The RIL board approved a swap ratio of 1:5; that is one share of Reliance for five shares of IPCL, a company media release said.

Reliance had acquired 26 per cent equity in IPCL in 2002 and subsequently increased its holding to 46 per cent through an open offer.

Over the past five years, IPCL's revenue increased from Rs 5,527 crore in 2001-02 to Rs 12,362 crore in 2005-06, a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 22 per cent and net profit went up from Rs 107 crore in 2001-02 to Rs 1,164 crore in 2005-06, a CAGR of 82 per cent, the release added.

CTC tea in demand in Kolkata tea auction market

Kolkata, Mar 11(UNI) CTC variety of tea was in the main sales driver of Kolkata tea auction market last week with a sale of 9,10,439 kgs. Auction market report here today said there was good demand of the CTC variety of tea. CTC was followed by the dust variety, sale of which stood at 4,55,655 kgs. Around 94,673 kgs of Orthodox variety of tea was sold while sales Darjeeling stood at 25.400 kgs. The report said all the varieties.....

Bharti Airtel announces managerial rejig from Apr 1

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Telecom conglomerate Bharti Airtel today announced strategic managerial changes across the company and its overseas ventures. The company has appointed Executive Director (North) Sanjay Nandrajog as Executive Director (International Operations and Managed Services). In his new role, Mr Nandrajog will be responsible for operations in locations like Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Jersey and Guernsey. In addition any other new licenses will also come under his purview.
