Repolling begins at Chindang booth in Nagaland

Kohima, Mar 10 (UNI) Re-polling at Chindang polling booth under Tuensang Sadar II Assembly Constituency in Nagaland began amid tight security this morning.

Election office sources said the re-polling was ordered following destruction of one Electronic Voting Machine by an irate mob during polling for the by-election to the constituency on Thursday.

The by-election in the two Assembly Segments of Dimapur-I and Tuensang Sadar II was held on Thursday.

The counting of votes will be taken up on Monday at the respective district headquarters of Dimapur and Tuensang.

All villages to be made clean by 2012

Patna, Mar 8 (UNI) The Bihar government has fixed a target to make all the villages clean and safe for people under complete cleanliness scheme by 2012. Replying to short noticed questions, state public health and engineering minister Prem Kumar said the district level committees were entrusted to clean up their respective areas and set up community lavatories. He said already 14,680 lavatories were constructed by the end of January last against the target of constructing 49.32 toilets for families living.....

MCD poll notification issued, nominations from today

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Nominations opened today for the April 5 polls to the 272-member Municipal Corporation of Delhi with Delhi State Election Commission issuing the notification signaling the start of the formal election process. State Election Commissioner S P Marwah said the last date for filing of nominations was March 17. Scrutiny would take place on March 19 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 22, he said. A total of 99 lakh voters are expected.....

Continental to launch daily Mumbai-New York service

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Continental Airlines will launch daily non-stop flights between Mumbai and New York from October 31. The new service will link India's commercial and entertainment capital with New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport.
