Police sends notice to Hassan Ali

Pune, Mar 10 (UNI) The city police today issued notices to Hassan Ali, suspected to be involved in a Rs 35,000-crore money laundering scam, to present himself before it by Monday.

Crime Branch sources said a meeting, headed by ACP Rajeinder Singh, was held today and it was decided to issue the notice to Hassan Ali as cases of economic offences by the latter had surfaced.

''We have served him a notice,'' Crime Branch inspector Pratap Barge confirmed, adding that Hassan Ali was very much present in the city.

The notice was accepted by Rama Khan, Ali's wife. She told the police that her husband had provided appropriate answers to the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate.

Meanwhile, Ali's lawyer Viraj Kakade also confirmed the receipt of the notice and said he would be answering it soon.

The 53-year-old Hassan Ali is believed to possess wealth in the region of Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 35,000 crore and owns properties in Pune, Mumbai, Nashik and Kolkata.

He had been admitted to the city-based Jehangir Hospital between January and February with cardiac and liver problems following raids by the IT and the Enforcement Department(ED).

Railways identify 20 locations for budget hotels

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Railways have decided to set up a hundred budget hotels all over its network through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), out of which tenders for 20 locations have been finalised, the Lok Sabha was informed today. ACB arrests PSI while accepting bribe

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths here have arrested a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from an accused at Mira Road in neighbouring Thane district. No proposal to bifurcate DG Shipping: Baalu

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The government today denied that it was considering a proposal to bifurcate the Directorate General of Shipping.
