People's Prez ensures they are spared traffic chaos!

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today took a chopper ride to Ghaziabad, on the outskirts of the national capital, to attend an official engagement in order to save citizens from inconvenience and traffic chaos.

Dr Kalam, who reviewed a ceremonial parade to mark the CISF Day celebrations, preferred the helicopter ride instead of travelling by road to ensure that people are not caught in traffic chaos caused by the elaborate security arrangements for him.

In fact the timing of the event was pushed ahead by an hour to 1100 hrs so that peak traffic hours were avoided, a Rashtrapati Bhawan official said.

''CBSE examinations and peak office hours were the reasons why a helicopter was preferred,'' he pointed out.

The President is seized of inconvenience caused to the public due to elaborate security arrangement, he said.

On March 2, when the President travelled to the historic Fatehpuri Masjid in the walled city for Friday Prayers, traffic in most parts of the city was thrown out of gear and people were stuck for hours in gridlock.
