Notorious criminal surrenders

Bettiah,Mar 10 (UNI) A notorious criminal, wanted in connection with several cases of murder, dacoity, extortion and kidnappings, today surrendered before the Bihar police.

Police said Awadhesh Yadav surrendered before Bagaha Superintendent of Police Vikash Vaibhav at Shera Bazar under Bathwaria police station area.

''He also surrendered a rifle and four live cartridges before Vaivhav,'' police added.

Ms Meera Devi, spouse of the criminal, is Mukhiya of Rupwalia panchayat in Devi Bahagha block.

Suspected bomb in train compartment causes confusion in Howrah

Howrah, Mar 10 (UNI) An object, suspected to be an explosive, was today found in a Gurup local train, causing confusion here in the locality. The bag was found at 1625 hours in one of the compartments of the train. Superintendant of Police Pradip Kumar Sanyal said that he had brought in the bomb squad to retreive the 'suspected bomb'. No microphones for Ram Dev's yoga camp in Kolkata: HC

Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) The Calcutta High Court has rejected a petition seeking permission to use microphones during a six-day yoga camp of Baba Ram Dev starting March 21. A Division Bench of Chief Justice S S Nijjar and Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya rejected the petition yesterday by the Biswa Jagriti Mission, challenging a notice issued by the West Bengal Pollution Control Board.
