New housing numbering system soon in temple town

Tirupati, Mar 10 (UNI) As part of the statewide pilot project to rationalise housing numbers, a new housing numbering system would be implemented in the Corporation limits soon.

According to Municipal officials here today, under the new system, only two numbers like 100/1 or 100/2 would be allotted to the houses for easy identificatioin of commercial areas.

The new numbering system had already been implemented in major cities of Andhra Pradesh, they said adding under the new system, streets would be allotted numbers which would be useful for identification of trees and other government and private commericial properties.

Stating that the boundaries of the Tirupati municipality had not been changed even after it was upgraded to the status of Corporation, the officials said in order to increase the revenue, the district administration had submitted a proposal to the state government to include 13 more panchayats in the newly-formed corporation.

The present 37 wards in the municipality would be upgraded to 50 wards in view of the corporation status, they added.

Surgery for macaque to restore vision

Coimbatore, Mar 10 (UNI) A lion-tailed macaque with a blurred vision in the Pudhuthottam forest area here, will be 'hospitalised', in the next week, with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department deciding to perform a surgery to remove a tumour from its right eye.
